Unblock OCD: ERP in Clinical Practice
From theory to structured ERP—applied with clarity in real clinical practice.
About Course
Most clinicians are familiar with Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) as the gold-standard treatment for OCD.
What often remains unclear is how to actually implement it in a real session — with patient resistance, fluctuating anxiety, and the need to structure exposures meaningfully.
This program is built around that gap.
What this course delivers:
Rather than revisiting definitions, the focus is on how ERP functions in practice — how to identify targets, structure exposure tasks, and guide patients through distress without reinforcing compulsions.
You will work through:
– Understanding OCD phenomenology in a treatment-focused way
– Identifying target symptoms and structuring assessment using Y-BOCS
– Building graded fear hierarchies using SUDS
– Designing and implementing in vivo exposure step-wise
– Conducting imaginal exposure for covert fears
– Using exposure scripts in a structured manner
– Managing avoidance, resistance, and ritualisation during sessions
– Integrating ERP within psychiatric management
– Adapting ERP to real-world clinical constraints
How the learning is structured
The teaching follows a clinical progression:
Foundations → Assessment → Hierarchy Building → Exposure Implementation → Relapse Prevention
Each stage builds into the next, mirroring how ERP is actually practiced.
Approach and faculty
The course is taught through a multi-clinician lens.
Psychiatrists and clinical psychologists contribute complementary perspectives, allowing you to understand how ERP is adapted across clinical settings rather than applied as a fixed protocol.
